Emma was one of the first poets/singer-songwriters to accept an invitation to join the Facebook group. With her extensive musical career, Emma has established herself as one of Australia's finest Indigenous performers. Her songs include her traditional language, Gumbayngirr, from the NSW north coast, as well as language of the original inhabitants of Sydney, the Eora people.
Emma's songs address contemporary Indigenous experience such as the tragedy of the Stolen Generations, and also come from a more personal space, such as the song "Gumbayngirr Lady" which appeared on her debut album, Changes. As Emma's website states: Emma "is committed to educating the global community about Aboriginal spirituality and culture".
The Youtube video of her wonderfully lyrical piece, Ngarraanga, can be viewed soon on the Emma Donovan video poem/songs (Australian) page (to be added).
